Liverpool have agreed a deal to sell teenage midfielder Bobby Clark to Pep Lijnders’ Salzburg for £10m. In addition to the £10m, the Reds have also inserted a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause into the deal with the Austrian football club. Currently managed by Jurgen Klopp’s former right-hand man Pep Lijnders.
Liverpool had previously rejected offers of £6m and £8.2m from Salzburg before finally agreeing on the price.
Clarke will travel to Austria to undergo a medical and finalise the transfer details.UFABET
Clarke, 19, is the son of former Newcastle midfielder Lee Clarke, and the youngster joined Liverpool from the Magpies for £1.5m in August 2021.
He made his senior debut for the Reds in a 9-0 win over Bournemouth in August 2022. And came on as a substitute in Liverpool’s Carabao Cup triumph over Chelsea last season.
In total, Clarke has made 12 appearances for Liverpool’s first team.
Clarke is not in new Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s plans after making 12 appearances last season and a move to Salzburg would see him link up with Pep Lijnders, Jurgen Klopp’s former right-hand man.
The England Under-20 midfielder, who will wear the No.10 shirt at Salzburg, said after being unveiled: “I’m delighted to take the next step in my career and I can’t wait to get on the pitch with my new team-mates. It’s the perfect move to the perfect club for me.”
“I’ve seen Liverpool players develop from Salzburg, like Sadio Mane and Dominik Szoboszlai, they’re a big inspiration for me. Everyone knows how good the young players’ opportunities are here.”
