As you enter the second trimester, your baby begins to grow rapidly. An ultrasound can be done to determine the baby’s development and gender. Pregnancy symptoms that were common in the first trimester will gradually decrease. You will feel more comfortable and have more strength and energy, but you may still experience other physical changes.

The changes that have occurred

  • Bleeding gums is a symptom that can occur during pregnancy because the body’s hormonal changes cause more blood to flow to the gums than normal, causing the gums to swell and bleed.
  • The uterus enlarges and you will start to feel the baby move in weeks 16 – 22.
  • A pregnancy symptom that may occur around weeks 16–18 is that the fetus starts to move, so you feel a slight twitch or contraction in your abdomen when the baby moves.
  • Have cramps

You may have all types of food in 1 meal or one type alternately with other meals. When you have 5-6 meals a day, you must eat all types of food.
